The Birth of a Passion for Vibrations, Asphalt, & Air

Its funny, I consider myself what I would like to call a “stay-at-home finance guru” or more simply put, a “non-professional finance idiot”. I am obsessed with the numbers and the strategies behind wealth and financial freedom. Ask any finance guru, heck anyone for that matter, if buying a car is a sound investment. The answer unanimously goes unsaid. Yet, here I am doing it anyways, well kinda. I can confirm, even after you buy the car, modifying it for your local track is an absolute financial disaster.

The passion started when I was in high school, something about driving down the highway, vibrations crawling to your hands and feet, the wind funneling through the interior. Death gripping the steering wheel with a sense of urgency and joy, you feel on top of the world…

Im just kidding, I almost threw up writing that, my 9th grade English teacher would have loved that sentence. When I was 8, I had a good friend that could tell me any car without looking at the symbols on the back. I thought he was a genius. I wanted to do exactly that and thats where it all started. In high school I met a good friend who had a 2009 Volkswagen MKV Jetta, he drove me around a few times and this was the magic beans to the bean stock. It was just a Jetta but I obsessed over German engineering. I could not believe how much more expensive and refined German cars felt than the more common Toyota Camry and Corolla for the same price at the time.

Before starting college, I got the choice of any entry level sedan as my first car. You best believe I picked a brand new 2014 Volkswagen MKVI Jetta. That thing was the bees knees to me. Like a kid in a candy store.

Today I still have the Jetta, and have owned arguably too many cars. I have owned:
– 2015 Ford S550 Mustang GT Premium (6 Speed MT)
– 2004 Chevrolet C5 Corvette Z06 (6 Speed MT)
– 2005 Mazda NB Miata MX-5 (6 Speed MT)
– 2004 Subaru Blob Eye WRX (5 Speed MT)
– 2003 Mazda NB Miata MX-5 (5 Speed MT)

And I’m here to talk about all of them. I will also be posting more about some of my favorite cars, new releases and even the headline breaking, technology driven, fight for the best EV
